Bohemian Pampas & Orchid Wedding Inspiration

Are you ready for all of the textural & bohemian wedding vibes? Today we are sharing some gorgeous pampas grass & orchid wedding designs shot by the incredible Bay Productions team.

The key to a bohemian style is creating lots of texture. When you choose an all neutral palette, it can sometimes photograph as one big white block. You can lose a lot of the details when the photos come back. Using lots of texture & a lot of cool, unique ingredients help create depth & visual interest.

Bohemian Wedding Flowers

For this gorgeous couple, we created two really stunning ceremony pieces that could be repurposed during the ceremony. Choosing designs that can easily be moved after your ceremony is a great way to maximize your budget! We used lots of gorgeous, fluffy dried pampas grass and mixed in some of our silk White Phalaenopsis Orchids to create a dramatic moment.

We also love how the bride’s bouquet is a real statement. Her bouquet mimics the style of her large arrangements with texture and a more organic shape while the bridesmaid have a more unified, flower heavy style. This really makes her flowers stand out beautifully!

Thank you to Bay Productions for capturing everything so beautiful and this wonderful vendor team for creating another stunning event!

Meet Alba Rose Photography, Dallas Wedding Photographer

Today we’re sharing another wonderful interview with one of our favorite Dallas photographers, Rosy from Alba Rose Photography!

Rosy’s work is our favorite style: light, bright, and airy. She captures details so perfectly that we enlist her into shooting our flowers as often as possible? (Think the flower photos in our online shop are gorgeous? That’s all Rosy!)

Let’s get to know more about Alba Rose Photography and her tips for hiring your perfect wedding photographer!

Let’s Hear from Rosy!

Tell us about your business!

I'm a wedding and portrait photographer specializing in capturing love stories for couples who value family, art, beauty, and design. While I prefer to be called Rosy, my full name is actually Rosalba (I was named after my grandmother)-pronounced Rose-Alba. Which is why and how my business name Alba Rose came to be. I wanted my name to have meaning and it does. I have a passed down name, almost like a personal heirloom. A Legacy. This is also what I hope to my clients can pass down with my photographs of them, their very own legacy and heirlooms.

What is your favorite thing about working in weddings?

I don't have just one favorite moment. More so, I have favorite stages of how the day evolves. I love how each wedding day is different and seeing each story unfold is amazing to me. I guess if I had to absolutely pick it would be these top 4.

  1. The first look between the couple: whether it's a private one or the traditional one where they see each other for the very first time.

  2. The moment they walk down the aisle announced as "married".

  3. The mother/son dances. As a boy mom to 4 boys. I almost always get teary eyes here.

  4. The grand exit. That sigh of relief, that overall giddy feeling I see couples have as they leave "their perfect wedding day". It's mesmerizing.

What trends are you seeing in your field? Any forecasts for future trends?

I see a lot of headpieces lately. I don't really know if it's a trend, but smaller headpieces for sure are making a comeback. I think smaller gatherings are definitely a thing now, with grand, lush, floral.

What advice would you give to couples looking to hire your category?

Take the time to ask a few key questions about your photographer.

  • What qualities do you most want your wedding photographer to possess and why is that important?

  • What about their work caught your eye and why is that important to you?

Asking yourself these thing will help you find the perfect photographer/artist for you.

Isn’t her work absolutely stunning? We are always counting down to our next collaboration with this talented creative!

Be sure to keep up with Rosy and see more of her magic on Instagram and Facebook!

4 Ways to Make Your Home Feel More Welcoming

We are on a constant mission to make our homes (and our clients’ homes!) as beautiful to live in as possible. In fact, it’s the sole inspiration behind our upcoming Haute Home line! Our homes are our sanctuaries. They should be comfortable, cozy, and welcoming. Whenever we entertain, we want those same feelings to extend to our guests!

Today we’re going to share our 4 Favorite Ways to Make Your Home Feel More Welcoming! (We can’t be held responsible if your guests never want to leave!)

Start with a pleasant fragrance

Make your home enticing as soon as the front door is opened. Scent plays so heavily into relaxation and positive experiences.

  • Before your guests arrive, light candles in a few key places such as your living room & bathroom.

  • Utilize a linen spray for your sofa or the guest room bedding.

Scents should be pleasant and not over-powering so don’t go overboard! A light, pleasant scent throughout your home is the perfect way to begin your guests experience in your home.

Make water & glasses readily available

While entertaining, your guests are bound to need some basic refreshments. Whether you’re simply visiting in the living room or serving a full dinner, make sure your guests feel welcome to grab something to sip on whenever they’d like.

We all know the experience of being in someone’s home and not wanting to bug them with a request for a glass of water. A beautiful pitcher with ice water and some glasses set out in an obvious location will make your guests feel welcome to pour their own glass whenever they desire.

Up your game by adding in some refreshing infusions to your water:

Add amenities to your guest bathroom

Although they’ll probably never bring it up, your guests will always appreciate a thoughtfully prepared guest bathroom! A few special amenities will ensure your guests feel comfortable and pampered.

  • Make sure toilet paper and tissues are fully stocked.

  • Set out a fresh hand towel (and set out a few extra in a pretty spot if you are having a large gathering. No one wants to dry their hands off on an overly damp towel!)

  • For an over the top experience, include a sweet tray of commonly used items like lotion, feminine care products, mouthwash, and room spray.

Make getting comfortable as easy as possible

Our goal as hostess is to always make sure our guests feel comfortable getting comfortable! Don’t be shy about pointing out everything they are welcome to use upon arrival.

Before your guests arrive, walk through your home and think through any areas or instances where you might be able to make guests feel at home:

  • If you have a shoe-free household, provide clean, comfy socks by the front door (having an entryway bench they can sit on is important too!)

  • For overnight guests, provide additional blankets & towels in their guest closet. Make them feel extra special with a cozy robe they can use!

  • Easily provide your wifi & television information in a cute frame in their room.

  • In the kitchen, set out a snack tray with easy grab-and-go foods like granola bars, nut mix, fresh baked cookies, etc.

A final note from Kristen

I have always loved entertaining and playing hostess. When I welcome guests into my home I want them to feel at-home and ready to relax and enjoy our time together! I have loved sharing these tips with you and I hope you stick around for more home & entertaining content and our Haute Home line coming soon!

Mohita & Joseph, The Olana

Today’s real wedding is a pastel dream. Mohita & Joseph tied the knot at one of the most stunning venues in North Texas, The Olana. It seriously looks like it belongs in the middle of the sprawling hills of France. It’s grand, opulent, and so incredibly dreamy.

The day was full of soft color, garden details and lots of love. Let’s dive in!

Blue & Peach Wedding Inspiration

We really love when our couples opt for colorful florals! I know it can be a little intimidating (blush and white are beautiful and classic for a reason!) but you can really make some magic with interesting color combinations. As we mentioned above, The Olana is a very grand venue and has a lot of warm ivories, creams, and golds in it’s decor. This complimenting palette really made the flowers shine, whereas a white floral palette may have faded into the background.

The key to pulling off this blue and peach palette is in the softness. We chose all florals that were pastel & dusty shades of our colors to keep anything from looking too harsh or overbearing.

Particularly in Mohita’s bridal bouquet, we used dreamy blue hydrangea, peach stock, ranunculus, blue delphinium, and dusty miller gathered together with soft, ivory ribbon. This bouquet will be one of our favorites for a long time to come!

Garden Wedding at The Olana

There are a couple more details from this beautiful day that we have to mention. We teamed up with our wonderful planning friends at Southern Affairs to soften the venue space and bring in a little more personality for our couple.

In the ceremony room, we designed a stunning circular arch to provide the perfect backdrop to their vows. The full coverage really creates an indoor garden vibe that radiates romance.

We also absolutely love how Robyne from Southern Affairs chose a dusty blue velvet linen for the reception tables. A bold linen color can really set the tone for a unique wedding design and make your reception details & flowers pop. (We’ve got a whole post coming soon on how to choose colored and patterned linens! Stay tuned!)

Even with low, lush compote centerpieces on each table, the design still feels luxe and unique.

A Final Word from Kristen

Every couple we share with Southern Affairs is truly a delight. Robyne is an incredibly talented and creative women and we love getting to bring her & our client’s vision to life.

We also want to thank Jeff Brummett Visuals for capturing every detail so gorgeously. Be sure to scroll through the gallery below and escape into this peach & blue pastel dream!
